What the signal across the coil looks like from a BIM024 module at idle (800rpm)


Check this out, i put my bitscope on the +ve and earth of the coil to see the ignition pulses, if you click on the image you can see the voltage rising to 13.4v (VP) and you can see the time where there is no current (where it has just discharged) at 24ms (TM) i think the spike around there is the coil itself letting go thru the high-tension line sending out some EMI

This is from my '79 chrysler valiant CM GLX at around 800rpm, it's a 265ci 6 cylinder

What is interesting you can see the voltage rise immediately after the zero (earth) that that caused the coil to spark, this is the leading edge trigger from the Bosch BIM 024, after this the voltage starts to drop away, i presume because the load on the coil starts to increase increasing the resistance causing a voltage drop, and then the BIM024 releases the earth , there is some time, a fuzzy bit where the coil is discharging and then nothing until it charges again (dwell)
